Sister Mary Ann Mueninghoff, OP, dies

Sister Mary Ann Mueninghoff, OP, died May 16, 2026, at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green Wis. A Memorial Eucharistic Word Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 26 in St. Clara Chapel, Sinsinawa, Wis. Casey-McNett Funeral Home and Cremation Services is handling arrangements.  

She was born Feb. 7, 1947, to Raphael and Mary (Behrmann) Mueninghoff in Cleveland, Ohio. She made profession with the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa in 1968. She received her BA in English education from Rosary College (now Dominican University), River Forest, Ill.; a certificate of theology from St. Norbert College, De Pere, Wis.; and an MPS in pastoral studies from Loyola University of Chicago, Ill.

Sr. Mary Ann’s ministry was dedicated to teaching, religious education, and higher education. She taught at St. Albert School, Minneapolis, Minn. She was religious education director at St. Matthew Parish, Kalispell, Mont.; Epiphany Parish, Chicago; and St. Luke Parish, River Forest. She then worked for the Sinsinawa Dominican congregation as director of the Apostolic Volunteers program. Sister Mary Ann was director of residence halls, counselor, and rector at the University of Notre Dame, Ind. She was promoter of mission integration at Dominican University. Relationships were important to Sr. Mary Ann, and she took it upon herself to make everyone feel that they belonged. She moved to St. Dominic Villa in 2025 and relished each visit and call with Sisters, family, and friends.

Sister Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by a sister, Janet Collins; brothers David, Eric, and Robert Mueninghoff; and her Dominican Sisters.
