Bishop Hying launches podcast

Things Visible and Invisible, a new podcast hosted by Bishop Donald J. Hying of Madison, has launched.

The series explores life, faith, current events, culture, and history, all in relation to Jesus Christ and His Church.

In each episode, Bishop Hying will offer reflection and conversation that connect the questions of everyday life to the richness of the Catholic Faith.

The podcast takes its name from the Nicene Creed’s profession of God as the maker “of all things visible and invisible.”

The inaugural episode centers on the Sacred Heart of Jesus and a historic moment happening this month.

On June 11, in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the United States Catholic bishops will consecrate the nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the first time such a consecration has taken place in the history of the Church in the United States.

“This celebration, this consecration, moves all of us to a greater devotion to Christ, to His sacred humanity, to love for Him whose love for us has conquered death and sin forever,” Bishop Hying said in the episode.

Drawing on the familiar images of the Sacred Heart found in so many Catholic homes and churches — the Heart of Christ crowned with thorns and afire with love —Bishop Hying reflects on why this devotion stands at the center of the Catholic Faith and speaks to the deepest desires of the human heart.

Things Visible and Invisible is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube Music, Amazon Music,  and other major podcast platforms, as well as at thingsvisibleandinvisible.buzzsprout.com and  madisondiocese.org/bishop

New episodes will be released every Wednesday.
