SINSINAWA — Dominican Sister Ann McFall, OP (Geoffrey), died as a result of injuries from a car accident in North Fort Myers, Fla., Sept. 27, 2009. A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Cape Coral, Fla. A wake and remembering service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, at the Dominican Motherhouse, Sinsinawa. The funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Ann made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 5, 1945, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1948. She served as a culinary artist for four years; a teacher for 24 years; a principal for 12 years; a college teacher and volunteer for four years; development staff for two years; director of religious education for two years; volunteer tutor for three years; and Mound Services director at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, for six years. She served in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Oregon and Florida.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Ann served in the culinary arts at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, 1945-1949. She taught at St. Jerome, Columbus, 1964-1965, and served as the director of Mound Services at the Motherhouse, 1994-2000.
Sister Ann was born Aug. 25, 1925, in Chicago, the daughter of Robert and Annie (McGowan) McFall. Her parents and a sister, Marie Burke, preceded her in death. She is survived by a brother, John McFall; nieces; nephews; and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 64 years.
