ADRIAN, Mich. — Sr. Marilyn Brown, formerly known as Sr. William Marie Brown, died February 9, 2009, at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Mich. She was 82 years of age and in the 64th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.
Sister Marilyn was born in Rockford, Ill., to William and Grace (Taylor) Brown. She graduated from Bishop Muldoon High School in Rockford and received a Bachelor of Philosophy Degree in English from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian, Mich., and a Master of Science Degree in Administration from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Ill.
Sister spent 45 years ministering in education in Toledo, Ohio; Detroit and Owosso, Michigan; Chicago, Maywood, Elgin, and South Beloit, Illinois; Des Moines, Iowa; and Beloit, Wisconsin. She was a principal and teacher at St. Thomas the Apostle School, Beloit, from 1974-77, and a teacher at Brother Dutton School, Beloit, from 1980-91. Sister became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian in 2006.
The funeral liturgy was offered in St. Catherine Chapel on Thursday, Feb. 12. Burial was in the Congregation cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 E. Siena Heights Dr., Adrian, Michigan, 49221.
