MADISON — The Wisconsin Catholic Conference (WCC) has urged state legislators to allow Wisconsin law governing education for human growth and development to continue to respect the judgment of parents, local school leaders, and advisory committees.
Making time to take a retreat
You haven’t changed a bit. That was the tongue in cheek line at a recent reunion I attended. As home towns go, mine is the best, of course. Small but still drawing all of us wayfarers back from time to time to catch up on things.
Reunions make that possible thanks to those who give their energy and time to draw a community together. Our oneness of experience growing up made for good conversations and the rekindling of memories from years gone by.
Importance of the communion of saints
What a great feast day we celebrated on Sunday, a feast that calls us to focus on one of the phrases in the Creed over which we might grow accustomed to pass too quickly. We say at the end of the creed, “I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints…”

Our nation is at a crossroads in the health care debate. Congress has spent many months examining various health care reform proposals. Finally our representatives and senators are expected to be voting soon on concrete pieces of legislation.

Catholic Spirit Club to meet Nov. 11
JANESVILLE — The Adult Catholic Spirit Club will meet in St. John Vianney Parish’s Marian Hall on Wednesday, Nov. 11, with a 12 noon potluck meal. All area men and women are welcome. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to share and own table service.
International Night Nov. 7 benefits center
