“How does St. Joseph inspire you to be a better disciple of Jesus?”
On December 8, 2020, the 150th anniversary of the declaration of St. Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church, Pope Francis issued an apostolic letter entitled, “With a Father’s Heart”. In that beautiful letter, the Holy Father proclaimed a “Year of Saint Joseph” from December 8, 2020, to December 8, 2021.
We can best honor St. Joseph by studying his life as the earthly father of Jesus and loving husband to Mary and by doing our best to live as he did. Joseph loved God and was obedient to Him no matter what. As a man of great faith, he raised Jesus as his own son and gave us many examples of holiness.
After reading and sharing what you know about St. Joseph, think about how he inspires you to be a better follower of Jesus:
• How did Joseph show his love for God?
• What traits or qualities made him a good father to Jesus and husband to Mary?
• What can I do to help make my family a “Holy Family”?
• Why is St. Joseph the Patron Saint of the Universal Church?
• In my prayers to St. Joseph, what do I ask of him to help me be a better disciple of Jesus?
