For those still with me after all of this time, you’ll recall I made some predictions going into this year. Let’s see how wrong I was.
1. The Green Bay Packers will fall short of a Super Bowl run in a very heartbreaking fashion — like “4th and 26th”-esque. That going for a field goal thing in the NFC Championship ultimately led to a disappointing finish, but nothing innovatingly heartbreaking. I was part wrong.
2. A new social media platform will burst onto the scene and give Facebook a run for its money in popularity. Hmmm, Parler? I was kind of right.
3. A successful musical act from the past, long since broken up and all but given up on, will surprisingly reunite to positive reviews and massive attention. ABBA’s new album Voyage was their first in 40 years. I was totally right on this one. Called it. I was right.
4. Robots. Something with robots. A recent New York Post story said “The ‘world’s most advanced,’ realistic robot is here to terrify you”. I was kind of sort of right.
5. I’ll win the lottery. I did not. I was wrong.
Sorry, no cookies, this year.
I don’t know
I’m not going to make any predictions for 2022.
Predictions are so limiting. Some of the greatest gifts we get are those that we don’t know are coming.
However, there are negative things that come into our life that we don’t see coming either and don’t predict.
I had both happen to me this year.
Some of the biggest and most important things that happened to me this year were not even on my prediction radar at the end of last year.
My 2021 was more than the Green Bay Packers and robots, for good and bad.
What’s going to happen in 2022? I don’t know and neither do you.
God knows
He, the Almighty knows what’s next.
I always ponder upon the Bible verse of “For I know well the plans I have in mind for you . . . plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope,” (Jeremiah 29:11, NABRE).
For those who thought 2021 was a great year, let’s pray for an even greater one. For those who thought 2021 was not a great year, let’s pray for a better one.
Most of all, let’s pray that we have the year that God wants us to have. When we’re living along with His will, all is well in His eyes.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
