MADISON — The new Women’s Care Center in Madison is planning an open house on Saturday, May 19, from 1 to 4 p.m. to celebrate its successful first four months of operation and allow the public to see the crisis pregnancy center located at 3711 Orin Rd. on Madison’s east side.
“We’ve had great support in both time and money from so many wonderful people and organizations, and that’s why we want to open our doors for people to see what we’ve accomplished together,” said Margie Blau of Madison, a member of the center’s board.
Angela Gorenc, BS, RN, the center’s director, said the Women’s Care Center has been getting “busier and busier.”
The center opened on January 18. There were 10 visits from clients in January. “Last month we had 42 visits from clients,” said Gorenc, making a total of over 100 visits since the center opened.
The Women’s Care Center is located right across the street from the Planned Parenthood Clinic where abortions are performed. Gorenc said there have been clients who planned to go to the clinic and instead walked across the street to the Women’s Care Center and decided to have their baby.
In May, the center will be offering two parenting classes a week with eight available throughout the month.
“A number of churches have been holding showers and fundraisers for our Crib Club,” said Gorenc. She said monetary donations
are needed to buy such things as cribs, mattresses, and strollers.

Donations welcome
People may send monetary donations to Women’s Care Center-Madison to P.O. Box 10, Cross Plains, WI 53528, or send them to the Care Center at 3711 Orin Rd.
Gorenc encouraged people to designate their monetary gift to a particular use. “We will follow their wishes,” she said.
The Women’s Care Center has two new counselors who are almost done with their training and will be starting in June.
The center is also beginning training for an ultrasound nurse, so that ultrasounds can be offered every day. “We’re moving along well,” said Gorenc.
Center has chapel
Bishop Robert C. Morlino will bless the center’s Holy Family Chapel on the day of the open house. Fr. Gary Wankerl, pastor of Holy Mother of Consolation Parish in Oregon and a noted artist, is designing art work for the chapel.
Amy Lang, a board member with her husband, Tom, said, “It’s such a gift to have the Lord present in the chapel. As we know, we are involved in spiritual warfare. We want to bring Jesus’ joy and presence to people. I’m looking forward to seeing the graces flow from here.”
Lang (maiden name Hying) was the director of Madison’s first 40 Days for Life in 2007. She has been happy to be involved with the new Women’s Care Center. “It’s such a grace to be part of it,” said Lang. “So many people are involved.”
Besides those involved with the Women’s Care Center, Lang thanked those involved in sidewalk counseling and prayer on the sidewalks outside the Planned Parenthood Building. There is a presence outside the facility every day of the year.
She encourages people to support the Women’s Care Center in whatever way they can.
The Women’s Care Center is part of a network of crisis pregnancy centers located in the states of Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
