MADISON — Harold “Harry” T. Wendler, age 82, father of Fr. Patrick Wendler, pastor of St. Bernard and St. Henry Parishes in Watertown, died on Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, in Madison.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 221 Columbus St., Sun Prairie. Father Wendler will be the celebrant with Msgr. Duane Moellenberndt as the homilist. Bishop Robert C. Morlino will be in choir.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 2, at Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie, and from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass on Tuesday at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church.
Mr. Wendler was preceded in death by his first wife Margaret (Bauer); his parents Otto and Alice (Harrison) Wendell; and a brother Frank.
He is survived by his wife Jan (Hughey); a sister Marion; children, Michael (Lynette), Father Patrick, Laure (Kurt) Schmidt, Mary (Kevin) Krysinski, and Thomas (Lisa); stepchildren, David Hughey, Dennis (Minette) Hughey, Donna (Bill) Hammerton, Dawn (Rick) Dorman, Douglas Hughey Sr., and Jane Lawson;nine grandchildren; 16 step grandchildren; and eight step great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at Sacred Hearts Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sacred Hearts Building Fund or the Sacred Hearts Cemetery Fund.
