MADISON — The Diocese of Madison’s Rural Life Office reports that two tractors and some equipment have been donated in response to a request from Family Farm Defenders President John Kinsman, LaValle.
Tom Nelson, rural life coordinator for the diocese, said that two more used tractors are still needed for a spring 2009 solidarity shipment to the Point Coupee Farmers Association in Louisiana, which was hit by hurricanes. Funds are also needed to transport the donated tractors and equipment.
A local farmer has offered his time and his semi-tractor and trailer to transport the donated tractors to Louisiana. Fuel for the trip will also require a donation. Donations are tax-deductible through Family Farm Defenders. Checks may be sent to: Family Farm Defenders, P.O. Box 1772, Madison, WI 53703.
