Faith stories at Stoughton parish
STOUGHTON — You are invited and encouraged to attend a powerful witnessing of faith where John Gray and Meg Veek, parishioners at St. Ann Parish, Stoughton, will share their love for Christ and how important he is to their daily life. After successful treatment for breast cancer 16 years ago, it returned with a vengeance — 15 small brain tumors and a lung tumor. This time it was stage four cancer.
The diagnosis stunned everyone. The news of Patty Kelbel’s condition spread quickly, especially among the Christian Experience Weekend (CEW) community. CEW is an intense retreat experience, directed mostly by laity, that has been a joint venture between the parishes of St. Ann in Stoughton and Holy Mother of Consolation (HMC) in Oregon for a number of years.

HAZEL GREEN — Fr. Raymond Edward Runde died on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at the age of 83 at the Stoughton Hospital, Stoughton.
St. Ann Parish to hold Holiday Gift Fair
STOUGHTON — St. Ann Parish will hold a Holiday Gift Fair at St. Ann School, 324 N. Harrison St., on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Proceeds will help defray expenses for parish youth events.
Over 30 vendors will be present at the Gift Fair, including local artists with African straw baskets, honey and related products, dream catchers, wine bottle decorations, evergreen wreaths and ropes, rolled paper art, wooden Christian trivets, birdhouse gourds, jewelry, quilted/knit/crochet and sewn items, jar mixes and gift baskets, homemade pet treats and dog collars, and more.
Parishes in the diocese offer ‘That Man is You!’ apostolate
OREGON — Some things are worth waking up early for.
Every Wednesday, before 6 a.m., a group of men gather at Holy Mother of Consolation Church in Oregon to share breakfast and their faith. The men come from that parish, as well as St. Ann Parish in Stoughton.
St. Ambrose lecture comes to Stoughton
STOUGHTON — The St. Ambrose Academy Faculty Lecture Series will be held on Monday, Oct. 21, from 7 to 8 p.m. at St. Ann Parish in Stoughton.
The newest faculty member at St. Ambrose, Michael Kwas, will share his research on “Conspiracy! Catholics, Anti-Catholicism, and Political Corruption in Civil War Era Wisconsin.”
During its first 15 years of statehood, Wisconsin witnessed a proliferation of real and imagined cases of corruption and conspiracy so extreme that the New York Tribune claimed, “Wisconsin is lost to honor; the home of corrupt politicians, and the home of a degraded people.” Anti-Catholic prejudice was often at the center of these cases.
