Resurrection Cemetery will get Memorial Statue
MADISON — Madison Diocese Director of Cemeteries Damian Lenshek announced that, through the generosity of anonymous donors, Resurrection Cemetery will receive a remarkable sculpture in the fall of this year.
The sculpture, Memorial to the Unborn Child II by Slovakian sculptor Martin Hudácek, portrays a grieving mother and father in the presence of a four-year-old child, on a cruciform base.
The mother and father are in stone, while the child is made of a translucent material. Hudácek’s sculptures have been installed in Slovakia, Poland, Chile, and California. In 2015, Hudácek presented a copy of one of his sculptures to Pope Francis.
World-famous statue of Mary to visit Monroe in October
MONROE — The World Apostolate of Fatima will bring its United Nations Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima to St. Victor Church, 1760 14th St., Monroe, on Saturday, Oct. 5, to Monday, Oct. 7.
This statue of Mary is based in Rhode Island and is owned by the Fatima Sanctuary in Portugal. One of the four International Pilgrim Virgin statues, it was blessed by Pope Pius XII, and shortly thereafter it began being taken on a continuous worldwide pilgrimage on May 13, 1947, the 30th anniversary of the first apparition of Mary at Fatima.
Mary, the mother of Jesus, appeared several times to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal, in 1917. The Catholic Church venerates Mary’s appearances there by giving her the title of “Our Lady of Fatima.”

Statue of Mary being restored
MADISON — With construction almost completed at Holy Name Heights — formerly Holy Name Seminary and the Bishop O’Connor Catholic Pastoral Center in Madison — there are many new and exciting changes that have taken place throughout the building over the past two years.
One thing that remains the same though is the statue of Mary that resides in the south courtyard of the building.
