MADISON — “On March 8, our spring 40 Days for Life campaign will have completed 20 days with 20 days to go of praying and fasting for an end to abortion,” said Gwen Finnegan, co-leader of the Madison campaign.
“It’s time to gather members of our pro-life community at our vigil location, Planned Parenthood, 3706 Orin Rd. in Madison, to thank God for how far we’ve come and to pray for the endurance to finish strong. So far, we know of one baby and mother saved from abortion on the sidewalks outside of Planned Parenthood in Madison from this campaign.”

40 Days for Life is a peaceful, highly-focused, non-denominational initiative that focuses on 40 days of prayer, fasting, and peaceful witness outside abortion facilities, as well as on grassroots educational outreach.

Principal brightens teachers’ spirits with paper cutouts of students
SPRING GREEN — The motto of St. John the Evangelist Catholic School in Spring Green is, “We’re more than a school . . . We’re a family!”
This was evident by the disappointment among St. John’s teachers when they heard the news that schools would not be reopening for the rest of the school year. They all understood the reasoning, but they just miss their students so much.
Edgewood Spring Fling canceled
MADISON — As public health, state, and federal authorities have mandated, Edgewood High School has decided that in order to protect its supporters and the entire community, it will not be able to hold the Spring Fling event at Garver Feed Mill, scheduled for Friday, April 24.
In a statement, the school said, “Our prayers are with every member of our Edgewood community in this unprecedented and difficult time. Our blessings to you, your families, our sponsors, donors, and our entire Edgewood Community.

Spring Fling to be held for Our Lady of the Assumption School in Beloit
BELOIT — It’s a fundraiser to benefit Our Lady of the Assumption Grade School (OLA) as people support its faith-based education But, it also promises to be so much more, according to Aron Bussan, chairperson for the event.
The sixth annual Spring Fling takes place Saturday, April 13, from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m. at La Casa Grande Banquet Hall, 818 Fourth St., in Beloit.
Besides parishioners and school parents, the public is invited and welcome to enjoy an evening featuring a potpourri of entertainment, according to Bussan, who is an alumnus of the school.
Catholic Woman’s Club presents Christian Achievement Award to Madison nurse
MADISON — The Madison Catholic Woman’s Club held its 104th annual Spring Celebration recently at the Blackhawk County Club.
The club honored a Madison nurse who has established support groups for cancer patients and watched a performance bringing Mary Todd Lincoln to life.
The luncheon began with an invocation by Msgr. O. Charles Schluter, pastor of St. Peter Parish in Madison and the club’s spiritual director. The club’s Co-Presidents, Susanna Herro and Carol Strmiska, made introductions, including many of the club’s 22 new members.
Christian Achievement Award
Each year the club recognizes an individual or group of individuals who perform charitable works in the community with its Christian Achievement Award.
