Discussion series on encyclical at Sinsinawa Mound
SINSINAWA — A discussion of Pope Francis‘ encyclical, Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home, will be held at Sinsinawa Mound from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Oct. 6 through Nov. 10.
Over the course of six weeks, participants will read each of the six chapters of the encyclical, which calls us to re-examine our lives in light of the ecological crisis, and discuss what this means for us as a people of faith.
Sisters invite public to pray for peace
SINSINAWA — The public is invited to join the Sinsinawa Mound community in prayer for peace in our world and in our hearts on Monday, Sept. 21, at 12:30 p.m.
The Prayer for Peace service is being held in conjunction with the International Day of Peace (IDP), established by a United Nations resolution in 1981.

Group works for nonviolence
SINSINAWA — Most people know about the war effort in Afghanistan, but few of us know the stories of those who are working to create a nation where peace overcomes violence.
The Sinsinawa Dominican Office of Peace and Justice is offering a presentation to inform people of the efforts of peacemakers in Afghanistan. It will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 16, at Sinsinawa Mound.

Sinsinawa Sisters to host open house
SINSINAWA — The Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters invite the public to an open house event at Sinsinawa Mound Sunday, Feb. 8, from 1 to 4 p.m. featuring tours of the heritage exhibit and Fr. Samuel Mazzuchelli exhibit, refreshments, and a 2:30 p.m. prayer service to celebrate the Year of Consecrated Life declared by Pope Francis for 2015.
