Cathedral Parish hosts Healing Mass, prayer service
MADISON — The Cathedral Parish is hosting a Healing Mass and prayer service with Fr. Aniello Salicone, a Xavierian priest from Franklin, Wis. The Mass will take place on Monday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. at St. Patrick Church, 404 E. Main St.
Born in Italy in 1940, Father Salicone has served as a missionary priest in Italy, London, West Africa, and many states in America. He took a fourth vow to serve the missions.
‘Our Faith Stories’ at St. Ann, Stoughton
STOUGHTON — This month’s “Our Faith Stories” at St. Ann Catholic Church will feature Jim Bailey and Laura Roeven on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 6:30 p.m. in Healy Hall.
Laura Roeven will discuss the idea of living each moment oriented to God. Her story is peppered with mindfulness practices and challenges of staying rooted and Christ-centered in our busy world.
Presentation and exposition of sacred relics
MT. HOREB — On Friday, Oct. 21, Fr. Carlos Martins of the Companions of the Cross will present “Treasures of the Church: an Exposition of Sacred Relics” at St. Michael the Archangel Parish (St. Ignatius Church), 109 S. 6th St.
The evening will begin at 7 p.m. with a presentation in the church by Father Martins. After the presentation, the relics will be available for veneration from 8 p.m. until close.
St. Dennis grief support series
MADISON — St. Dennis Catholic Church, 505 Dempsey Rd. will host a four week “No One Cries the Wrong Way” series on Wednesday evenings Oct. 5, 12, 19, and 26.
A group reunion will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 2. Sessions facilitated by the St. Dennis grief ministry team include team presentations, prayer, small group discussion, handouts, and refreshments.
‘Sip and swipe cafe’ for older adults offered
PALMYRA — St Mary Parish is hosting a “sip and swipe café” for older adults interested in learning how to use a tablet computer.
The program is designed to teach the basics of using a tablet, including how to connect to the Internet, use email and apps, and other functions.
‘Our Faith Stories’ at St. Ann Parish
STOUGHTON — The September “Our Faith Stories” at St. Ann Catholic Church will feature Dan Schultz and Marie Powers. They will share their stories Sunday, Sept. 25, at 6:30 p.m. in Healy Hall.
Dan said about his talk, “My story is a collection of rambling thoughts from a guy on the older side of middle-aged, shaped by his experiences of being a son, brother, friend, husband, and father.
St. Michael in Calamine marks 100 years
CALAMINE — St. Michael Parish in Calamine was established in November of 1916.
St. Michael Parish merged with four other parishes on July 12, 2015, to become Our Lady of Fatima Parish.
The long-standing members of St. Michael’s decided a 100-year celebration was in order to commemorate the history of St. Michael Church.
Westport parish celebrates 150 years of faith
“We thank God in a special way today for all of your forefathers and foremothers on whose shoulders the faith of this parish stands,” said Bishop Robert C. Morlino at the start of Mass on August 20 at St. Mary of the Lake Church in Westport.
Special collection to be taken for flood victims
MADISON — The Diocese of Madison will join in a special collection for flood victims in Louisiana to be taken in parishes on the weekend of September 18.
The president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz of Louisville, Ky., called on Catholic parishes across the U.S. to take a second collection on or around September 18. He encouraged U. S. Catholics “to respond generously. Our prayer and material support is urgently needed to help rebuild lives.”
