Diocesan Choir to present spring concert
MADISON — The Madison Diocesan Choir will present its annual spring concert on Friday, May 12, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Holy Name Heights (formerly the Bishop O’Connor Center).
The program, “Te Deum: One God, Three Persons,” offers a musical reflection on the Holy Trinity. The concert is divided into three parts, one each for God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
Voting underway to name new homeless day resource center
MADISON — Voting on a name for the new homeless day resource center is now underway. Four finalists are in the running: The Opportunity Place, The Net, The Beacon, and Turning Point Center.
From all around Dane County, people submitted ideas for what to name the center that is under construction in Madison at 615 E. Washington Ave.
Schools, faith centers, clubs, organizations, and individuals submitted ideas for a name. Those who would be using the center were included as well. Bethel Lutheran Church provided its homeless guests with an opportunity to submit ideas offline.
Bishop Morlino celebrates Pontifical Mass at the Throne
MADISON — On Monday, March 20, at the chapel of Holy Name Heights (Bishop O’Connor Center), His Excellency Robert C. Morlino, Bishop of Madison, celebrated a Pontifical Mass at the Throne for the transferred Feast of St. Joseph.
The Mass was in the Roman Rite’s older, traditional form, sometimes called the “Extraordinary Form.” The music was in Latin, in Gregorian chant and Renaissance polyphony, with two hymns in English for the entrance and the recessional.
Contest to name homeless center
MADISON — A contest is being held to name the new homeless day resource center operated by Catholic Charities with submissions being accepted from March 22 to April 7.
Groups, businesses, schools, clubs, and individuals can enter a naming idea and be eligible to win a gift with recognition at the ribbon cutting when the center opens in the fall.
Evening of Reflection on the Eucharist with Bishop Morlino
MADISON — The Office of Worship of the Diocese of Madison is hosting an Evening of Reflection on the Eucharist on Friday, March 31, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Holy Name Heights (formerly the Bishop O’Connor Center).
Bishop Robert C. Morlino will lead the evening — a sort of mini Lenten retreat — offering insight into the powerful mystery of the Holy Eucharist.

Holy Mass will be celebrated in honor of the Feast of St. Joseph, foster father of the Lord, husband of Mary, patron of the Church, of the dying, of fathers, and of immigrants.
The music will be Gregorian Chant and polyphonic motets.

Pontifical Mass for the Feast of Candlemas to be celebrated
MADISON — On Thursday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m. His Excellency Most Reverend Robert C. Morlino will celebrate Candlemas, the Feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary (the Presentation of the Lord) with a Pontifical Mass at the Throne in the chapel of the Holy Name Heights, 702 S. High Point Rd., Madison.
The music will be Gregorian Chant and polyphonic motets.
There will be the traditional blessing of candles and a procession.
The rites are in the Church’s ancient, traditional form of the Roman Rite in Latin.
Blessed candles will be distributed.
Mass for deceased bishops and priests of Diocese of Madison
MADISON — Bishop Robert C. Morlino will celebrate a special Requiem Mass for deceased priests and bishops of the Diocese of Madison. November is a month when Catholics pray in a special way for the repose of the dead and, by God’s will, for the rapid entrance into heaven of the poor souls.
On Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. in the chapel at Holy Name Heights, Bishop Morlino, with clerical and lay ministers, will celebrate a Pontifical Requiem Mass “at the Throne” in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite.
