New developments at St. Ambrose Academy
MADISON — St. Ambrose Academy has recently announced two significant new initiatives that will position the school for future growth and success, including adding new members to its Board of Directors and kicking off a three-year plan to move into a new school building by September 7, 2021.
Since St. Ambrose Academy’s founding in 2003 as Madison’s first independent, classical, Catholic middle and high school, enrollment has grown tenfold. In its first 15 years, St. Ambrose has continually expanded its ability to deliver on its mission of providing Madison-area families with access to a classical education rooted in the Catholic faith.
Edgewood High School peer ministers lead retreat
MADISON — As part of Catholic Schools Week, students in the Peer Ministry class at Edgewood High School had a chance to give back and help younger students grow in their faith.
The Peer Ministry class challenges students to develop their personal faith and leadership potential. Students plan and lead liturgies and prayer services throughout the semester along with participating and leading retreats and service programs.
St. Joseph School in Baraboo expanding to include middle school program
BARABOO — St. Joseph Catholic School is re-establishing its middle school program and has started open enrollment.
During each of the next three years, the school will add one grade level, starting with a sixth-grade class next school year and seventh- and eighth-grade classes added in the two subsequent years.
The school currently offers a daycare, four-year-old kindergarten (4K), and kindergarten through fifth-grade classes. In 4K through fifth grades, the school has a total enrollment of 143 students.
City approves request to expand enrollment at St. Ambrose Academy
The City of Madison Plan Commission has approved a request by St. Ambrose Academy to teach as many as 140 students in the education wing of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish at 602 Everglade Dr.
Retreat offers youth a chance to gain a listening heart
MADISON — “What do many of you listen to?” Bishop Robert C. Morlino asked during his homily at the Youth 2000 retreat February 27, naming off popular artists like Lady Gaga and Ludacris and gaining laughter from the youth.
Proposed Sauk City middle school postponed for 2009-10
St. Aloysius School in Sauk City was considering a proposal to expand to grades six, seven, and eight for the fall of 2009, but after a feasibility study conducted this year Bishop Robert C. Morlino has recommended that the grades not be added for the coming school year.
