Catholic Men’s Conference planned in Waunakee
WAUNAKEE — A Catholic Men’s Conference will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16, at St. John the Baptist Church, 209 South St., Waunakee.
All men are invited to attend this half-day conference. Gather with men who have a desire to grow in their Catholic faith to become better fathers, grandfathers, husbands, and brothers.
Join with these men for a time of inspiration, reflection, learning, and camaraderie.
Men’s retreat at Durward’s Glen
BARABOO — All men are invited to a retreat titled, “Catholic Survival Guide: Keeping the Faith Alive in an Increasingly Secular World,” which will take place at Durward’s Glen, W11876 McLeisch Rd., on Saturday, Feb. 4.
This year’s featured speaker is Bishop Robert C. Morlino of Madison.
Activities during the day include Mass presided by the bishop, small group discussion, Rosary, Confession, and free time.

Men’s retreat at Durward’s Glen January 30
BARABOO — On Saturday, Jan. 30, St. Joseph Parish in Baraboo will be hosting a men’s retreat titled, “Men of Mercy” at Durward’s Glen.
This year’s featured speaker is Fr. Scott Jablonski, parochial vicar at St. Bernard and St. Henry Parishes in Watertown. Activities during the day include Mass, small group discussion, Rosary, Confession, and Adoration.
The retreat begins with Mass at 8 a.m. and concludes by 3:30 p.m. New this year, there will be an optional Friday night program beginning at 7 p.m. for those who want to extend their retreat.
‘Mad Men’ and the depression of Don Draper
About four years ago, I had to take the long flight to New Zealand to give a retreat to the priests of the Diocese of Christchurch.
In order to pass the time, I brought along an iPad with the entire first season of Mad Men on it. So in one very intense period, I got immersed in the world of Don Draper, a world that I vaguely remember from my own childhood — not the booze and the affairs, of course, but the look, the feel, the colors, the way people moved and talked.

BARABOO — Two different retreat weekends are planned for Durward’s Glen Retreat and Conference Center in Baraboo featuring Abbot Marcel Rooney, who has extensive knowledge of sacred liturgy, music, and art.
The theme for his talks will be “Making Holy Mass a Dynamic Force in Our Christian Lives.” During three talks at the two retreats, Abbot Rooney will focus on the components of the liturgy of the Mass and its relationship to our spiritual life and growth.

MADISON — The annual “Fortes in Fide” diocesan men’s Lenten retreat is set for Friday, March 6, to Saturday, March 7, at the Bishop O’Connor Pastoral Center in Madison, 702 S. High Point Rd.
Mass will be celebrated at 5 p.m. Friday for early arrivals.
The retreat welcome will be at 7 p.m.
There will be talks, Confession, a Holy Hour, Rosary, and Benediction.

Men’s retreat at St. Joseph Parish, Baraboo
BARABOO — On Saturday, Jan. 24, St. Joseph Parish will host a one-day men’s retreat titled, “Living Supernaturally.”
Featured speakers include Fr. Rick Heilman and Scott Hackl. Father Heilman is the founder of the Catholic men’s apostolate Knights of Divine Mercy, founder of the Holy League, and regular on Relevant Radio.
Hackl is the father of six and advancement director working on a $24 million campaign to rebuild St. Paul’s University Catholic Center in Madison.
