Catholic Medical Guild plans annual family picnic
SUN PRAIRIE — The Catholic Medical Guild of the Diocese of Madison will hold its annual family picnic on Sunday, Aug. 12, at Sheehan Park, 1351 Linnerud Dr., Sun Prairie (east shelter across from the Sun Prairie pool).
People can arrive any time after 1 p.m. The guild will provide meat to grill burgers, brats, and hotdogs, and will provide beverages. Those coming are asked to bring a salad, side dish, or dessert to pass.Annual White Mass scheduled for March 18
MADISON — The Catholic Medical Guild of the Diocese of Madison will present the annual White Mass with Bishop Robert C. Morlino on Sunday, March 18, at St. Patrick Church, 404 E. Main St.
The White Mass honors physicians, nurses, and healthcare workers. The Mass will be at 11 a.m.
A brunch and speaker will follow the Mass. Vicki Braun, MS, CGP, will speak on “The Female Cycle as the Fifth Vital Sign — Fertility awareness based methods and their role in women’s health issues.”
Mobile food pantries serve rural communities
MADISON — The Parish Mobile Food Pantry program operated by Catholic Charities Madison serves rural communities who do not have access to the larger pantries in Madison.
Parishioners from participating Catholic parishes volunteer to unload and distribute food delivered to the parish by a Second Harvest foodbank truck. Parish volunteers organize each monthly pantry and assist their neighbors who depend on the pantry for food or to help offset other expenses (such as medical and utility bills).

New scholarship program paves path for adults of color to launch health care careers
MADISON — Catholic Charities is partnering with Agrace Hospice & Palliative Care and Ryan Brothers Ambulance Service in the launch of a new scholarship for adults of color who want to become a certified nursing assistant (CNA) or an emergency medical technician (EMT).
The program is called “Collaboration for the Calling” and focuses on creating a workforce that is as diverse as the people they serve throughout southern Wisconsin.
Begun by Agrace
Collaboration for the Calling scholarships are an expansion of a program Agrace launched earlier this year for disadvantaged students of color who recently graduated from high school.
Catholic Medical Association of Madison plans summer picnic
MADISON — The Catholic Medical Association (CMA) of Madison invites Catholic healthcare professionals to a summer picnic.
The picnic will be held on Sunday, Aug. 23, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Sheehan Park-West Shelter, 1115 Linnerud Dr., Sun Prairie. Any interested Catholic physicians or health care workers in and around the Madison area, along with family members and friends of all ages, are welcome to attend. Fun, family-friendly games, activities, and face-painting for the kids are planned. There is no cost to attend.

Benefit to be held for family at Sullivan parish
SULLIVAN — Kila and Scott Hagie are a young couple who were married at St. Mary Help of Christians Church on May 6, 2006, with Fr. Eric Nielsen officiating.
Their lives forever changed with the birth and death of their premature daughter. Father Nielsen buried Fiona Ailish in the parish cemetery months into their new marriage.
