“We are called to proclaim from the housetops the Gospel of Life, to speak publicly as we are today,” said Bishop Donald J. Hying of Madison at the March for Life Wisconsin event held at the State Capitol in Madison on June 24.

Easter: A forever shining moment
Every year, when we get to late March and early April, there are two things on my mind — Easter and the NCAA men’s basketball tournament a.k.a. “March Madness”.
Do these two marvelous things have anything in common? I think so, if you know where to look.
‘We’re here now!’
Common images seen during any NCAA tourney programming are those of the “Cinderella” 1983 title game — such as North Carolina St. coach Jim Valvano running around on the court after his Wolfpack won in a dramatic upset, or guard Dereck Whittenburg coming up short on the last-second shot (or “passing the ball”) and having it caught by forward Lorenzo Charles who dunked it in the basket for the win.West Dane CCW invites women to meet

The Chicago march is an annual event that draws thousands from across the Midwest to celebrate all human life from conception through natural death.

In the more than 30 annual Washington, D.C., Marches for Life I have participated in, I always think the current march is the largest ever. But since accurate figures are hard to come by, it usually comes down to taking a good guess.
But a 60-second time-lapse video produced by Students for Life of America clearly reveals, regardless of the exact number, that this year’s March flowed on and on.
It’s heartening to see that lots of people care. But do we really care enough?
Spreading the Gospel of life is our mission
This week, we once again commemorate the sad anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision in 1973 which legalized abortion throughout our country.
Since then, millions and millions of human lives have been legally snuffed out in the very beginning of their existence without the chance of making their contribution to the world or knowing the wonder of our human experience.
Last year globally, 41 million abortions occurred. These numbers are staggering when we compare them to any other human tragedy which destroys lives.
Marching Bosco’s pillars around the state Capitol
Fr. Richard Heilman |
On Friday, Jan. 31, at 6 p.m., we are calling all pro-lifers to join together on this Feast of St. John Bosco, as we bring “Bosco’s Two Pillars” of the Most Holy Eucharist and the Blessed Virgin Mary to the sidewalks surrounding the Wisconsin State Capitol building in Madison.
We will meet on the State St. steps and then process the Holy Eucharist and Our Lady around the State Capitol. All who march with us will be given Epiphany Holy Water and Exorcised and Blessed Salt to sprinkle around our State Capitol, and call upon God to bless and transform our state and country back to a culture of life.Blessed Sacrament School raises money to feed hungry

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Forty years ago, on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., St. John Paul II affirmed the validity of absolute moral norms including prohibitions against sins such as perjury, adultery, and in this case, abortion.
Only six years after the intrinsically unjust Roe v. Wade decision was handed down by the U.S. Supreme Court, St. John Paul addressed not only the decriminalizing of abortion but implicitly warned against the cascading moral relativism it helps to engender.
He stated: “If a person’s right to life is violated at the moment in which he is first conceived in his mother’s womb, an indirect blow is struck also at the whole of the moral order, which serves to ensure the inviolable goods of man.
