Bishop Morlino to ordain three transitional deacons
On Friday, May 23, Bishop Robert C. Morlino will ordain three men to the transitional diaconate during a Mass at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel at the Bishop O’Connor Catholic Pastoral Center in Madison.
‘Celebration of Life’ held
MADISON — If there were one word to describe the recent “Celebration of Life” event at the Alliant Energy Center, it would be “thanks.”
The evening had a mood of gratitude from both those who put on the benefit dinner and those who attended.
The event was an opportunity for Our Lady of Hope Clinic and the Women’s Care Center of Madison (WCC) to show how they have worked to build a “Culture of Life” in Dane County.

Barbara Kutchmarek quoted this passage from Psalm 188 as she greeted those attending the Madison Catholic Woman’s Club’s 100-Year Anniversary Celebration held May 6 at the Bishop O’Connor Catholic Pastoral Center.
Memorial Day Masses in the diocese
A Memorial Day Mass will be held at Resurrection Cemetery Chapel, Madison, on Monday, May 26, at 10 a.m. Bishop Robert C. Morlino will be the principal celebrant and homilist. Area priests will serve as concelebrants. Knights of Columbus will serve as honor guard. The Mass will be held outdoors, but in case of rain, Mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 405 S. Owen Dr. Refreshments will follow Mass.
St. Paul University Catholic Center holds annual Spring Wine Fest
MADISON — A light spring rain could not dampen the spirits of hundreds who flocked to the Madison Concourse Hotel recently to celebrate what has become the premiere event of the spring season: the St. Paul Spring Wine Fest.
University of Wisconsin (UW)-Madison students welcomed guests at the door with smiles and tasting cards for recording impressions of a wide variety of wines and local brews.
Edgewood Campus School’s EdgeTech team enters Technovation Challenge
MADISON — A team of five eighth grade girls from Edgewood Campus School (ECS) participated in the 2014 Technovation Challenge. Technovation is the world’s largest and longest-running tech competition for girls. There were 842 teams worldwide entered in the 2014 challenge.
In Technovation, teams of young women identify a problem, create an app to solve it, code the app, build a company to launch the app in the market, and pitch their plan to experts — all in 12 weeks. The 2014 challenge required teams to develop an app that solves a problem in their local community.Upcoming Natural Family Planning classes

St. Dennis students clean up surrounding neighborhoods
On the beautiful spring day of Wednesday, April 23, students at St. Dennis School in Madison excitedly put on their coats and hurriedly made their way to the doors while teachers and staff — also with smiles on their faces — did their best to keep all the kids from running outside at once.
