St. Vincent de Paul hosts first Care Café
MADISON — It was a change-of-pace start of the day for many supporters of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) in Madison.
The organization recently held its first Care Café community fundraising breakfast at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.
It was a chance for SVdP to show the community the local work it does to help neighbors in need.

Catholic health care professionals invited to White Mass
MADISON — The Catholic Medical Guild of the Diocese of Madison will be sponsoring the White Mass, celebrated by Bishop Robert C. Morlino, on Sunday, April 10, at 11 a.m., at St. Patrick Church, 404 E. Main St., Madison.
A White Mass, named by the color worn by those in healing professions, traditionally invokes God’s blessing upon patients, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
The Mass will be followed by a lunch reception and a presentation by Dr. Frank Smith, a urologist at the Wilkinson Medical Center in Hartland.
Good Friday Walk for Justice and Mercy to be held in Madison
MADISON — What do walking for justice and mercy have to do with the three foci of Lent: fasting, prayer, and charity? Everything!
During the Church’s Jubilee Year of Mercy and the coming Good Friday time of meditating on the suffering and death of Jesus, Madisonians are invited to walk together to 10 stations in downtown Madison that will call to mind the need for justice and mercy in the world.
On Friday, March 25, all will gather at 4:30 p.m. at Cathedral Place, near the corner of West Washington Ave. and S. Henry St., to commence a one-hour, one-mile loop walk to 10 locations, including the Dane County Jail and the State Capitol.

Our Lady of Hope Clinic and the Women’s Care Center are partnering in a Celebration of Life with a benefit dinner for both organizations to be held on Friday, April 1, at the Madison Concourse Hotel.
Catholic Multicultural Center launches updated English as a Second Language Program
MADISON — “I have lived here [in the U.S.] for 12 years. I come to the CMC to learn English because I need it for my job . . . for everything, even when you go to the store. And, to know how to speak two languages is very important.”

Lenten Women’s Day of Reflection
MADISON — A Lenten Women’s Day of Reflection will be held on Saturday, March 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Schoenstatt Marian Shrine, 5901 Cottage Grove Rd.
With the theme, “Queen of Mercy, Refuge of Sinners,” the day will include talks and discussions, Mass, opportunity for Confession, private prayer, Divine Mercy Chaplet, and indulgence prayers for the Year of Mercy.
Wisconsin’s Into the Breach Tour empowers men
This past September 29, on the Feast of St. Michael the Archangel, Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted of the Diocese of Phoenix, Ariz., promulgated an Apostolic Exhortation calling men to step “Into the Breach.” Bishop Olmsted began his exhortation:
“I begin this letter with a clarion call and clear charge to you, my sons and brothers in Christ: Men, do not hesitate to engage in the battle that is raging around you, the battle that is wounding our children and families, the battle that is distorting the dignity of both women and men.
