Natural Family Planning Week July 24 to 30 celebrates God’s vision for marriage
MADISON — “Natural Family Planning: Love, Mercy, Life, Opening the Heart of Marriage” is the theme of this year’s Natural Family Planning Awareness Week, a national educational campaign of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) to celebrate God’s vision for marriage and promote the methods of Natural Family Planning.
Natural Family Planning (NFP) is an umbrella term for the safe, natural, and effective methods of both achieving and avoiding pregnancy. NFP methods teach couples how to observe and interpret the woman’s signs of fertility and infertility.

Bishop Morlino to celebrate Solemn Pontifical Mass on July 1
MADISON — Bishop Robert C. Morlino will celebrate a Solemn Pontifical Mass on Friday, July 1, Feast of the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord, at 7 p.m., in the chapel of Holy Name Heights located in the Bishop O’Connor Center, 702 S. High Point Rd.
This Mass will be offered for the intention of suffering and persecuted Christians around the globe.
St. Vincent de Paul volunteer opportunities for young adults
MADISON — The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is offering the Madison Catholic young adult community opportunities to grow in faith and meet others through service.
Help in the Lacy Garden
All young adults are invited to help plant, weed, harvest, and dig in the Lacy Garden from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday evenings.
The garden, at 5897 Whalen Rd. in Fitchburg, provides more than 20,000 pounds of fresh produce for the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry each year.

MADISON — Deacon Joseph Baker will be ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Robert C. Morlino of Madison on Friday, June 24, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Maria Goretti Church in Madison.
Everyone is invited to attend.
St. Maria Goretti is wheelchair accessible. There will be assistive-listening devices for the hard-of-hearing and a sign language interpreter for the deaf. Large-print leaflets will be available.

Madison Catholic Woman’s Club holds 102nd annual Spring Celebration
MADISON — The Madison Catholic Woman’s Club celebrated women of the past and present at the club’s 102nd annual Spring Celebration held recently at the Blackhawk County Club.
Christian Achievement Award
First for the present. Each year the club recognizes an individual or group of individuals who perform charitable works in the community with its Christian Achievement Award.
This year the award went to Rita Hohlstein, a member of St. John the Baptist Parish in Waunakee. Married to Ernie for 50 years, Hohlstein has two children and four grandchildren, noted Kathy Stroshane, the club’s Spiritual Committee chairperson.

One at a time
Sometimes I feel like I am too small and the problems around the world are so big. I watch the news or read an article and get exhausted from the onslaught of depressing, discouraging, and sometimes crazy news stories. The presidential election. Immigration. Police issues. Racial disparity. The list goes on.
It’s overwhelming. And then I remember how Mother Teresa focused on helping just one person at a time. What a great lesson.
I’ve asked Jerilyn Robinson, our director of family programs, to give an example of how Catholic Charities is doing this with our Behavioral Health in Schools (BHS) program.
Decision America prayer rally in Madison June 15
MADISON — A prayer rally will be held in Madison at the King St. side of the State Capitol Plaza Area on Wednesday, June 15, at 12 noon.
The rally is part of the Decision America Tour 2016 with Franklin Graham, evangelist and son of Billy Graham.
