All invited to high-level international event
The myriad ways Catholics serve our corners of the world and Church is a credit to the beauty and diversity of the gifts given to each of us by the Lord.
Throughout the years, a number of sons and daughters of the Diocese of Madison have taken roles within the Church that serve an international scope.
One such example is Fr. John Putzer, a priest of the diocese, who has served in the diplomatic service of the Holy See since 2016 after completing four years of advanced studies in Rome.‘You can’t put your arms around a memory’
I took a couple of audio-visual trips down Memory Lane over Labor Day weekend.
My first trip consisted of dusting off two VHS tapes and watching some “home movies” of the high school band trip to Canada that I went on when I was a senior in high school back in the summer of 2002.
Although I and some of my peers may have rolled our eyes at the time, I’m very grateful that one of the parent chaperones on the trip was constantly using his camcorder and captured more than a dozen hours of memories as they were happening.
Edgewood Spring Fling canceled
MADISON — As public health, state, and federal authorities have mandated, Edgewood High School has decided that in order to protect its supporters and the entire community, it will not be able to hold the Spring Fling event at Garver Feed Mill, scheduled for Friday, April 24.
In a statement, the school said, “Our prayers are with every member of our Edgewood community in this unprecedented and difficult time. Our blessings to you, your families, our sponsors, donors, and our entire Edgewood Community.
“We are grateful to our sponsors and all who support Edgewood Crusaders during these uncertain times.”Youth grow in faith, friendship at Frassati Fest
WISCONSIN DELLS — At the beginning of February, approximately 350 high school teens and chaperones gathered together at the Kalahari in the Wisconsin Dells to attend the 21st annual “Frassati Fest.”
This youth gathering is named after Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, who was from Italy and died at a young age. He is the patron of this event.

Apostolate hosts annual Advent/Christmas Party in Monroe
It’s a scene familiar in many Decembers. A Christmas tree, Christmas music, Christmas cookies, old friends getting reacquainted, new friendships forged, and even a visit from Santa.
Edgewood in the Community
MADISON — Edgewood High School (EHS) is built on a foundation of Catholic service to the community.
On a recent Wednesday, the entire EHS community — including students, faculty and staff, and parents — put down the books for a day of volunteering during the 20th annual Edgewood in the Community Day.
Opportunity to connect
This service day jump-starts students’ excitement for the school’s mission to serve and gives them an early opportunity to connect with work and organizations they may serve in the future.St. Ambrose presents Wizard of Oz

Eyes opened to human struggles on mission trip
MADISON — The mission trip is a long-standing tradition, made available only to juniors at Edgewood High School. It is a service immersion experience.
Immersion experience
Part of the time students are involved in direct service. Part of the time students are learning about social justice issues such as poverty, homelessness, hunger, incarceration, racism, and immigration.
Part of the time students pray and reflect on their experiences. But, all of the time students are immersed in environments that open their eyes to the realities faced by so many marginalized people in our country.
Holy Family Homeschoolers to present double feature high school drama
WAUNAKEE — The public is invited to join the Holy Family Homeschoolers for a “double feature” high school drama production on Friday, Jan. 11, at 6:30 p.m. in the Waunakee High School Theater.
The first play is The Adventures of Nate the Great, a legendary boy who is the sharpest kid detective ever to solve his neighborhood’s mysteries. The second play is Little Scrooge, a comedy that is an extremely creative, kid-friendly adaption of the Charles Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol.
