ASHTON/CROSS PLAINS — Last fall, Kelsey (McCarthy) Townsend contracted COVID late in pregnancy.
Her baby Lucy was delivered prematurely at 39 weeks while Kelsey was in an induced coma and on a ventilator.
Kelsey remained in the hospital on a ventilator and under a prognosis that included lung transplant before she could return home to a normal life.
Latino-led fundraiser helps Catholic Multicultural Center help the community
MADISON — When the Diocese of Madison shut the Catholic Multicultural Center (CMC) down in 2009 due to tough economic times, Elia Armacanqui was among the first to rally around the center and advocate for its re-opening.

MADISON — Each year, St. Ambrose Academy holds an All Saints Day party whose proceeds fund the students’ biennial journey to Washington, D.C., to march on behalf of the unborn.
Hundreds recently flocked to the wooded hills of southwestern Dane County on a sunny but crisp autumn afternoon for frolic and fellowship in support of the great cause of sending young people to the March for Life.

Many of this year’s party guests dressed as saints: Gianna Mollo strolled about in a white doctor’s jacket, a little Kateri Tekakwitha rode on her uncle’s shoulders in a leather fringed wrap with feathers.
Our Lady Queen of Peace school is holding Fun Run/Walk fundraiser
MADISON — Our Lady Queen of Peace School is holding its second Annual Fun Run/Walk fundraiser to benefit the Make A Wish Foundation, WUNDERGLO Foundation, and the school.
All are invited to come to the school parking lot at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, to help cheer on students as they run or walk as many laps as they can in one hour around the Queen of Peace neighborhood to raise money for charities and the school.
Our Lady of Assumption School holds Spring Fling
BELOIT — On Saturday, April 23, Our Lady of the Assumption School will hold its third annual Spring Fling at La Casa Grande Restaurant in Beloit. This is the major fund raiser for the school, replacing the walk-a-thon several years ago.
Tickets, which include an Italian and Mexican buffet, silent and live auctions, and entertainment by Dueling Pianos, are $45 each, two for $80, or a table of eight for $300.

Knights of Columbus to hold brat fry fundraiser in Baraboo
BARABOO — Monsignor O’Reilly Knights of Columbus Council 746 will hold a brat sale at Pierce’s Marketplace on Friday and Saturday, July 24 and 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
All profits will be split equally between the Backpack Project and Coats for Kids.
The Backpack Project is a community project that provides school supplies and personal items to financially disadvantaged children in the Baraboo School District.
