A reverent silence is difficult for anyone to achieve, but with more than 3,000 students from middle school and high school filling the seats and stands in the vast Alliant Energy Center’s Exhibition Hall in Madison, it was something extraordinary.

Schemmel to conclude tenure as EHS president in 2013
MADISON — Judd Schemmel, the president of Edgewood High School of the Sacred Heart (EHS), recently informed the school of his decision to complete his tenure as president at the end of the 2012-13 school year. Schemmel began as president of the Catholic high school in May of 2005.
Edgewood show choir presents concert April 29
MADISON — The Edgewood High School (EHS) Crusader Singers Show Choir and Jazz Ensemble Extravaganza Concert will be held on Sunday, April 29, at 7 p.m., in the Sr. Kathleen O’Connell Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.
There is no conflict between faith and science
To the editor:
I was pleasantly surprised to find an article in the Catholic Herald that honored a science teacher, the late Joe Zaiman of Edgewood High School (October 20 issue, page 9).
I was taught in a Catholic school that there is no conflict between faith and science. In trying to spread this teaching, I like to point out that two of the greatest scientists of the 20th century were also Catholic priests.
