‘Dominic’s Dream Continues: 800 Years and Counting’
SINSINAWA — Sinsinawa Dominican Sister Toni Harris, OP, will present “Dominic’s Dream Continues: 800 Years and Counting” from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19, at Sinsinawa Mound.

Dominicans are observing a jubilee from November 7, 2015, through February 21, 2017, to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the Order of Preachers established by St. Dominic in the 13th century.

Sinsinawa Sisters to host open house
SINSINAWA — The Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters invite the public to an open house event at Sinsinawa Mound Sunday, Feb. 8, from 1 to 4 p.m. featuring tours of the heritage exhibit and Fr. Samuel Mazzuchelli exhibit, refreshments, and a 2:30 p.m. prayer service to celebrate the Year of Consecrated Life declared by Pope Francis for 2015.
Nearly 1,000 Catholic Sisters live and work in the tri-state area.
Public invited to pray for peace at Sinsinawa Mound
SINSINAWA — The public is invited to join the Sinsinawa Mound community in prayer for peace in our world and in our hearts at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 22.
The service is being held in conjunction with the International Day of Peace established by a United Nations resolution in 1981. This year’s International Day of Peace theme recognizes the 30th United Nations General Assembly Declaration on the Right of Peoples to Peace.
Mazzuchelli memorial Mass and dinner planned
BENTON — The annual Venerable Fr. Samuel Mazzuchelli memorial Mass and dinner will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 24, at St. Patrick Church in Benton.
The public is invited to attend the day’s events sponsored by the Father Mazzuchelli Assembly 1202 Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Lancaster.
Prior to the Mass, the public is invited to visit St. Augustine Church, New Diggings. Tours will be given from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
WeHaKee Camp for Girls inspires faith in great outdoors
WINTER — The Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters of Wisconsin were seeking a place for girls to discover, explore, and experience God’s great outdoors.
So, in 1923, they created what would become the only full-season Catholic girls overnight camp in the nation — WeHaKee Camp for Girls located in northern Wisconsin.

Sr. Marie Frederic Lucks, OP, dies
SINSINAWA — Sr. Marie Frederic Lucks, OP, died March 15, 2012, at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wis. The funeral Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa March 19, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Marie Frederic made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 5, 1948, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1951. She taught for 46years and served as school support staff for 12 years, with eight years overlapping. Sister Marie Frederic served in Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, Texas and Oklahoma.
