Rosary March to be held May 3 in Madison
MADISON — The 77th Semi-Annual International Rosary March and May Crowning will be held on Sunday, May 3, at 2 p.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 120 W. Johnson St.
A 15-decade Rosary will be prayed in procession around the block and inside the church. The Rosary procession will be followed by the presentation of a May crown and flowers to Our Lady, a homily by Fr. Ivan Strmecki, OFM (Sacred Heart Croation Parish in Milwaukee), and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
Parish holds Gift and Plant Fair
STOUGHTON — St. Ann Parish will hold a Spring Fever Gift and Plant Fair on Saturday, May 2, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at 324 N. Harrison St. Proceeds will help defray expenses for parish youth who are making a mission trip to Logan, W. Va., this summer.
Over 30 vendors will have hand-crafted jewelry, knit and fabric arts, straw baskets, African artifacts, stained glass and suncatchers, cards and signs, food and drink baskets, sewn and knitted baby/children/adult items, kitchen towels and accessories, cardigans and sweatshirts, and home décor.

Mass planned at historic church in Highland
HIGHLAND — The St. Philip Preservation Association invites everyone to the second annual gathering to help continue the historical legacy of St. Philip Church, 726 Main St., on Sunday, May 3.
Fr. James Murphy will celebrate Mass at 1 p.m. Msgr. Delbert Schmelzer is also planning to attend.
St. Thomas Aquinas Parish hosts Family Fun(d) Night: ‘Heads, Shoulders, Kneelers, Toes’
MADISON — St. Thomas Aquinas Parish will host a Family Fun(d) Night, “Heads, Shoulders, Kneelers, Toes,” on Saturday, May 2, beginning after the 4:30 p.m. Mass in the social hall and gathering area, 602 Everglade Dr. This family-centered event will help to raise funds to purchase new kneelers for the church.
Tickets are $15 per person, $25 a couple, or $40 for families with parents and children under 18 years of age.

A survey by William J. Byron and Charles Zech appeared in America magazine. It was conducted at the request of David O’Connell, the bishop of Trenton, and its focus was very simple: it endeavored to discover why Catholics have left the Church.
No one denies that a rather substantive number of Catholics have taken their leave during the past 20 years, and Byron and Zech wanted to find out why. They did so in the most direct way possible: they asked those who had quit.
Philharmonic Chorus of Madison concerts
MADISON — The Philharmonic Chorus of Madison will perform free concerts on Wednesday, April 29, 7 p.m., at Oakwood West; Friday, May 1, 7:30 p.m., at Monona United Methodist Church; and Sunday, May 3, 2 p.m., at Bethany United Methodist Church.
The chorus, under the direction of Patrick Gorman, will perform Aaron Copland’s In the Beginning with soloist Shannon O’Brien-Kaszuba.
Considered the Dean of American Music, Copland composed the choral work in 1947, setting 38 verses from the Book of Genesis.
Talk on Catholic response to global warming
MADISON — Pope Francis’ universal prayer intention for the month of April this year is “That people may learn to respect creation and care for it as a gift of God.”
This summer the pope is expected to issue an encyclical on ecology.
In synch with the pope’s prayer intention and in anticipation of his encyclical, Steve Coleman, a parishioner of St. Dennis Parish in Madison and a retired mechanical engineer, will present “A Catholic Response to Global Warming” on Thursday, April 16, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 602 Everglade Dr.
