Fatima celebrations in the Diocese of Madison

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first appearance of the Blessed Virgin Mary on May 13, 1917, to three children at Fatima, Portugal, the Rosary will be prayed at St. Mary Help of Christians Church in Glen Haven on Saturday, May 13, at 7:15 p.m.
The church is located at 8808 4th St.
Following the Rosary in the church, there will be a procession to the statue of Our Lady of Fatima in the grotto behind the church.

Madison Catholic Woman’s Club holds 102nd annual Spring Celebration
MADISON — The Madison Catholic Woman’s Club celebrated women of the past and present at the club’s 102nd annual Spring Celebration held recently at the Blackhawk County Club.
Christian Achievement Award
First for the present. Each year the club recognizes an individual or group of individuals who perform charitable works in the community with its Christian Achievement Award.
This year the award went to Rita Hohlstein, a member of St. John the Baptist Parish in Waunakee. Married to Ernie for 50 years, Hohlstein has two children and four grandchildren, noted Kathy Stroshane, the club’s Spiritual Committee chairperson.
Diocesan scouting celebration set for April 3
MADISON — The Diocese of Madison Catholic Committee of Scouting (DMCCS) is hosting a Catholic celebration for their fellow Scouts on Sunday, April 3, at Edgewood High School, 2219 Monroe St, Madison.
All Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts interested in starting or completing the Religious Emblems Program are invited to attend this event.
Registration begins at 1 p.m. at the school. A Scout Mass will be held at 4 p.m. and dinner will be provided following the service.
Our Lady of Guadalupe celebration to be held at Cathedral Parish
MADISON — St. Raphael Cathedral Parish will hold its annual celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe at Holy Redeemer Church, 120 W. Johnson St., on December 11 and 12.
While Mary has long been the patron saint of Mexico, St. John Paul II proclaimed her the Patroness of the Americas in 1999. Juan Diego, to whom Mary appeared in 1531, was canonized in 2002, making him the first Amerindian saint.
Today people across Latin America — not only Mexicans — venerate Our Lady of Guadalupe, including many Latin American immigrants in the United States.
Churches Center celebrates 25 years

Annual picnic held at historic church in Waterloo
WATERLOO — The Island Church Foundation invites the public to visit the historic St. Wenceslaus Church, commonly referred to as the Island Church, for the annual St. Wenceslaus Day celebration on Sunday, Sept. 27.
The celebration will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include Mass in the church at 2:30 p.m. Local historian Edward Langer will be on hand with books, maps, and other information from his research on the emigration from Landskron to Waterloo and other places in Wisconsin.
