Celebration of 105 years of Schoenstatt Movement
MADISON — On Friday, October 18, the Schoenstatt Movement commemorated 105 years of its foundation.
Bishop Donald J. Hying presided at the celebration and Fr. Mark Niehaus, superior of the Schoenstatt Fathers, concelebrated. Members of this Ecclesial Movement gathered at the Marian Shrine on Cottage Grove Rd. in Madison for Mass at 7 p.m.
Our Lady of Hope Clinic, Women’s Care Center partnering for sixth annual ‘Celebration of Life’
MADISON — Our Lady of Hope Clinic and the Women’s Care Center are partnering in a “Celebration of Life” with an event to benefit both organizations on Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Madison Concourse Hotel, 1 W. Dayton St., Madison.
The benefit, now in its sixth year, will begin with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. and will feature Steve “the Homer” True from ESPN radio as the emcee of an evening of luxury bingo, with bingo, auction, and raffle prizes ranging from fine dining at some of the area’s restaurants, to a round of golf for four at the historic Maple Bluff Country Club, and a stay at a four-bedroom mountain home in Estes Park.

Catholic Woman’s Club presents Christian Achievement Award to Madison nurse
MADISON — The Madison Catholic Woman’s Club held its 104th annual Spring Celebration recently at the Blackhawk County Club.
The club honored a Madison nurse who has established support groups for cancer patients and watched a performance bringing Mary Todd Lincoln to life.
The luncheon began with an invocation by Msgr. O. Charles Schluter, pastor of St. Peter Parish in Madison and the club’s spiritual director. The club’s Co-Presidents, Susanna Herro and Carol Strmiska, made introductions, including many of the club’s 22 new members.
Christian Achievement Award
Each year the club recognizes an individual or group of individuals who perform charitable works in the community with its Christian Achievement Award.
Stories of ‘Courage Through Faith’ shared at St. Dennis
MADISON — A post-Easter celebration of courage that comes from faith will be held at St. Dennis Church, 413 Dempsey Rd., on Sunday, April 22, at 6 p.m.
The presentation will unfold as the editor of the Wisconsin State Journal, John Smalley, introduces stories of “Courage Through Faith in Our Work on Earth.”

MADISON — The Madison Catholic Woman’s Club (MCWC) will be celebrating another year of religious, charitable, and civic activities on Tuesday, May 8, at a 12 noon luncheon at Blackhawk Country Club, 3606 Blackhawk Dr.
Highlights of the Spring Celebration will include announcement and presentation of the Christian Achievement Award for 2018, acknowledgment of new club members, and donations to local charitable organizations of cash and in-kind goods totaling over $20,000.

Edgewood High School in Madison kitchen staff member Richard Hare recently celebrated that milestone birthday.
In addition to a birthday cake and singing, Hare usually celebrates his special day at the school by making others around him happy.
Island Church Foundation to honor St. Wenceslaus
WATERLOO — The Island Church Foundation invites the public to visit the historic St. Wenceslaus Church, commonly known as the Island Church, for the annual St. Wenceslaus Day celebration on Sunday, Sept. 24.
The celebration will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include a Mass in the church at 2:30 p.m.
Featured events include a historic tractor display presented by neighbors, and local historian Edward Langer will be on hand to share ancestral history from his recent trip to Lanskroun.
