Msgr. Elmer Dietzel, pastor emeritus, dies
DICKEYVILLE — A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 30, at 11 a.m. at Holy Ghost Church in Dickeyville for Msgr. Elmer J. Dietzel, a pastor emeritus of the Diocese of Madison, who died on Tuesday, Oct. 27, in Madison.
Bishop Robert C. Morlino will be the main celebrant of the Mass with Fr. Bernard E. Rott as homilist.
Parish financial irregularities prompt call for audit
WATERTOWN — After receiving concerns regarding parish finances from St. Bernard Parish, Watertown, parishioners in June, the Diocese of Madison has taken a very preliminary look at the parish’s finances and concluded that a careful and independent examination of the parish’s finances and records is needed.
These concerns include the borrowing of funds from parishioners and the parish itself and overall handling of parish business affairs.
Camp closes as staff member diagnosed with flu
REEDSBURG — Campers and parents are being notified this morning that Camp Gray (a Catholic youth summer camp) will be closed until Sunday, July 5, after one staff member was confirmed as positive for the H1N1 (swine flu) virus, late Monday. Immediately upon learning of the confirmed case, camp directors decided to close the camp, for the health and well-being of the campers.
