This week, we liturgically celebrate some significant saints: St. Francis of Assisi on October 4, St. Faustina Kowalska on October 5, and St. Bruno on October 6.
October 1 is the feast of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, one of the most popular saints throughout the Church and a personal favorite.

I joyously encourage everyone in our diocese to register and participate in our first Diocesan Eucharistic Congress, which will be at St. John the Baptist Parish in Waunakee, beginning on Friday night, Sept. 29, and ending on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 1.
On Thursday, Sept. 14, the relics of St. Jude Thaddeus, one of the 12 Apostles, will be at St. Maria Goretti Parish here in Madison available for public veneration. The church will be open from 1 to 10 p.m. to pray to the Lord, seek the powerful intercession of St. Jude, and venerate his relics. I will be presiding at a special bilingual Mass at 7 p.m., to which everyone is invited.
