Corpus Christi Mass and procession to be held June 22 at Durward’s Glen
BARABOO — The 101st annual Corpus Christi Mass and procession at Durward’s Glen will take place on Sunday, June 22, at 11:30 a.m.
The Mass will be celebrated at the outdoor Holy Family Altar by Fr. Pedro Escribano.
The Eucharistic procession will commence from the hilltop and include Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, flower girls, candles, incense, local musicians, flags, the crucifix, and the Blessed Sacrament carried under the decorative canopy.
Sister Jeannine Spuehler, OP, dies
SINSINAWA — Sr. Jeannine Spuehler, OP, died April 30, 2014, at St. Dominic Villa. The funeral Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa May 6, 2014, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Jeannine made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 5, 1951, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1954. She ministered as a teacher for 34 years, pastoral assistant for four years, and secretary for 12 years. Sister Jeannine served in Nebraska, Oklahoma, Illinois, Wisconsin, Wyoming, South Dakota, and Minnesota.
First Saturday at Durward’s Glen observed May 3
BARABOO — On December 10, 1925, Our Blessed Mother appeared to Lucia at Pentevedra, Spain.
She said, “I promise to assist at the hour of death with the graces necessary for salvation all those who, in order to make reparation to me, on the first Saturday of five successive months, go to Confession, receive Holy Communion, say five decades of the Rosary, and keep me company for a quarter of an hour, meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary.”

BARABOO — Join Catholic women from the diocese to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Madison Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (MDCCW) and “Find Grace through Faith, Trust, & Patience” at the annual MDCCW convention.
The Sauk Vicariate will host this event, beginning the afternoon of Tuesday, May 20, and continuing the next day at the Clarion Hotel & Convention Center, 626 Hwy. 12, Baraboo.

Durward’s Glen to begin First Saturdays Devotion
BARABOO — Durward’s Glen, W11876 McLeish Rd., is hosting Holy Mass every first Saturday of the month throughout 2014. The First Saturdays Devotion is a Catholic practice that has been requested by the Virgin Mary in several apparitions, notably Our Lady of Fátima and the subsequent Pontevedra apparitions.
This devotion and the Marian apparitions have been officially embraced by the Roman Catholic Church as worthy private devotions but are not obligatory.
St. Joseph School in Baraboo expanding to include middle school program
BARABOO — St. Joseph Catholic School is re-establishing its middle school program and has started open enrollment.
During each of the next three years, the school will add one grade level, starting with a sixth-grade class next school year and seventh- and eighth-grade classes added in the two subsequent years.
The school currently offers a daycare, four-year-old kindergarten (4K), and kindergarten through fifth-grade classes. In 4K through fifth grades, the school has a total enrollment of 143 students.
