Thanks for support of 2019 Annual Catholic Appeal
As we approach Thanksgiving and the Advent season, it is a perfect time to give thanks to all of those who supported the 2019 Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA).
2019 Annual Catholic Appeal: ‘In the Light of Faith’
“It is in the Light of Faith that we are spiritually nourished, purified, sanctified, called to our vocation, and given the grace to share the light given to us at our baptism, through the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy.”
Why I give to the Annual Catholic Appeal
Why do I continue to give to the Annual Catholic Appeal in the Diocese of Madison?
Here are just some of the reasons.
• Our priests — All Catholics in the Diocese of Madison have priests who celebrate Mass, preside at sacraments, and provide counseling to parishioners and those in hospitals and nursing homes. These priests received their education before ordination as seminarians through the support of the diocese. And even after ordination, our priests receive continuing education through our diocese.
• Our schools and religious education programs — Many parents in the Diocese of Madison like me have children who attended or are attending Catholic schools or religious education programs. These children have principals, teachers, and catechists who received training and support through our diocesan offices.
• Camp Gray — My children attended Camp Gray for summer camp and for Confirmation retreats. The camp receives support from the ACA.
• Marriage and family programs — My husband and I participated in a Marriage Encounter weekend, and for many years we’ve been a FOCCUS Marriage Preparation couple. Training and support for these programs are offered through the ACA.
‘In the Light of Faith’
The theme of this year’s ACA is “In the Light of Faith.” It emphasizes how we all get to know, love, and serve God better through our diocesan services.
This year’s goal is $3.5 million. Here is how the goal is divided into various areas:
Annual Catholic Appeal gives back
When the Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA) began in 2009, the Diocese of Madison had hopes of being able to give back to diocesan parishes and parish schools through grants from the funds received over the goal amount.
The 2015 ACA was the first year this reality came to fruition, and now again with the 2017 ACA surpassing its goal, grants were able to be enacted.
2018 Annual Catholic Appeal: ‘We Dare to Hope’
“In daring to hope, we express our faith and love in the Lord, and in daring to hope, we will find ourselves loving and caring for the spiritual needs of those in our diocese and elsewhere.”
Bishop Robert C. Morlino has chosen “We Dare to Hope” as the theme of the 2018 Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA). …
An evening of gratitude for seminarian support
For the seminarians of the Diocese of Madison, it was both a sign summer is ending and their studies are about to continue as well as a chance to thank those making their discernment to the priesthood possible.
Support the Annual Catholic Appeal
This is the time of year when Catholics throughout the Diocese of Madison are hearing and reading about the Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA).
Members of parishes have received a letter and pledge form from Bishop Robert C. Morlino. An insert about the appeal was distributed in parishes and also included in the Catholic Herald. This past weekend, we watched a video message from the Diocese of Madison in our parishes.
