As we prepare for Christmas and are in the midst of the season of Advent, it is hard to think about the warm summer months and kids enjoying their time at summer camp.

Annual Catholic Appeal: Your gifts in action
MADISON — The Office of Evangelization and Catechesis (OEC) exists to aid the bishop in fulfilling his mission of proclaiming and teaching the Good News of Jesus Christ with an overarching goal to have everyone in the diocese hear every day a loving and gentle invitation to meet Jesus Christ, risen from the dead in a life-changing way.

2020 Annual Catholic Appeal: ‘Love Never Fails’
MADISON — When a priest becomes a bishop, he is tasked with choosing a motto for his episcopacy.
Usually taken from Scripture, it should be of some importance to the focus of that bishop in his service as a shepherd to the people entrusted to him.
As Bishop Donald J. Hying made this decision for his episcopacy, he chose, Caritas Numquam Excidit, Latin for “Love Never Fails,” which also doubles as the theme of the 2020 Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA).
Your donation to the ACA fuels the proclamation of the Gospel, the celebration of the sacraments, the religious formation of our youth, the training of seminarians, the good work of Catholic Charities, and supportive services to our parishes and schools allowing the Diocese of Madison to fulfill the true mission of the Church by making disciples of all nations.
Asking for support
This year’s ACA is, once again, seeking your help and asking you to prayerfully consider what you are able to do to support the important ministries that are impacted through your generosity.
In the coming weeks, parishes across the diocese will participate in an in-pew pledge/donation process. You will view a short video highlighting more of the ministries that the ACA supports, so you are able to get a good idea of where your donation is going.Annual Catholic Appeal kick-off event

MADISON — The theme of this year’s Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA) is “Love never fails.” If it sounds familiar, one of the reasons is that “Love never fails” is Bishop Donald J. Hying’s episcopal motto.
It is taken from St. Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians (1 Cor 13:8) that expresses the Christian doctrine that in all we do, we should do it with love.
At the ACA kick-off event held January 21 at St. Maria Goretti Church in Madison, Bishop Hying said this theme “captures the essence of the Gospel. God’s love always triumphs in the end.”
ACA chair couple
As a new initiative this year, Bishop Hying has implemented an ACA chair couple to serve with him in promoting the ACA and helping raise awareness of the appeal.
The first chair couple are Kellie and Michael Ryan, members of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Belleville along with their six children. The Ryans have been strong supporters of the ACA since they moved to the Diocese of Madison from Pennsylvania over six years ago. Thanks for support of 2019 Annual Catholic Appeal
As we approach Thanksgiving and the Advent season, it is a perfect time to give thanks to all of those who supported the 2019 Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA).
2019 Annual Catholic Appeal: ‘In the Light of Faith’
“It is in the Light of Faith that we are spiritually nourished, purified, sanctified, called to our vocation, and given the grace to share the light given to us at our baptism, through the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy.”
Annual Catholic Appeal gives back
When the Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA) began in 2009, the Diocese of Madison had hopes of being able to give back to diocesan parishes and parish schools through grants from the funds received over the goal amount.
The 2015 ACA was the first year this reality came to fruition, and now again with the 2017 ACA surpassing its goal, grants were able to be enacted.
2018 Annual Catholic Appeal: ‘We Dare to Hope’
“In daring to hope, we express our faith and love in the Lord, and in daring to hope, we will find ourselves loving and caring for the spiritual needs of those in our diocese and elsewhere.”
Bishop Robert C. Morlino has chosen “We Dare to Hope” as the theme of the 2018 Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA). …
2017 Annual Catholic Appeal
MADISON — As I say it for the Diocese of Madison, I invite every priest to do so for his parish, and every individual to say it for their home, “As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” This is Bishop Robert C. Morlino’s intent for the theme of this year’s Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA).
We can serve the Lord in many different ways. This year, we are challenged to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him in our households, in our parishes, and throughout the diocese.
One way to encompass all three of these is to make a donation to this year’s ACA – your pledge will go to support many missions and works of mercy throughout the diocese. Below are just a few examples of some of the ministries supported by the ACA that allow you to Know, Love, and Serve the Lord.
To Know Him
Our increased love and service to the Lord begins with getting to know Him. The ACA helps support Catholic schools, religious education programs, and religious formation programs by educating disciples of all ages.
Your donations to the ACA allow the Diocese of Madison to provide funding for ministries that allow many in the diocese the ability to begin to know Him better and, in turn, to love Him more.
