St. Mary’s breaks ground for Janesville hospital
SSM Health Care of Wisconsin and Dean Health Systems broke ground on November 17 for the new St. Mary’s Janesville Hospital and Dean Clinic Janesville at the new site on Hwy. 11 just east of I-90.
A time to be grateful, to examine our conscience
Dear Friends,
It seems that Labor Day was just yesterday and here we find ourselves at Thanksgiving and the beginning of the “holiday season.” In the first place, I am grateful for all of you at Thanksgiving — you who are my brothers and sisters in the diocesan family. We are indeed a family, and the members of a family do not always get along perfectly. But, we are still family in Christ, and no one of us, myself especially, should ever forget that. And so we live and move forward together in gratitude, precisely the way every family does and must.
New president named for Janesville Hospital
The excitement continues to build around the new St. Mary’s Janesville Hospital. Just two days after breaking ground, SSM Health Care of Wisconsin announced that Kerry Swanson will be the hospital’s new president.
Settlement reached for feasibility study
The Diocese of Madison has reached an agreement with Phoenix Fundraising Council regarding the just compensation for their services on a recent feasibility study for a capital campaign.
Difference between lives lost in abortion and war
To the editor:
In Mr. Lins letter (Mailbag, October 9, 2008), he stated that “Respecting life should include lives lost in wars.” No one, liberal or conservative, wants to see any human life lost, but comparing lives lost in wars in Afghanistan and Iraq to the 4,000 lives ended by abortion every single day in our country alone is ridiculous!
Annual Red Mass held Oct. 26

‘Respecting Life’ should include lives lost in wars

Nowhere in the “Respect Life” issue of September 25 did I find any mention of the thousands of innocent lives that have been, and will still be, lost in the ongoing wars taking place in Iraq and Afghanistan. Don’t these lives deserve prayerful recognition as well?
