MADISON — The Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s Recycle the Warmth blanket drive slated for January 29 to 31 will help provide warmth and comfort for local families struggling with poverty. The society is urging area residents to search closets — or use their checkbooks — to provide blankets and bedding.
From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 29, and Saturday, Jan. 30, St. Vincent de Paul volunteers will staff Recycle the Warmth collection points at all four Madison-area Shopko stores. Shopko will offer blankets for sale for donors who would like to contribute new blankets. Bedding will also be collected at Dane County’s three Maytag Stores and five St. Vincent de Paul thrift stores. About four dozen area religious congregations will also collect bedding.
