SINSINAWA, Wis. — Sr. Margaret Muellenmeister, OP, died November 14, 2017, at St. Dominic Villa. Her religious name was Sister Terza. The funeral Mass was held at the Dominican motherhouse, Sinsinawa, November 17, 2017, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Margaret made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican September 12, 1946, and her final profession September 12, 1949. She taught for 20 years and tutored for five years, served as culinary artist for eight years, and ministered as a parish visitor for 21 years, and support staff for six years. Sister Margaret served in Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, Wyoming, Wisconsin, New York, South Dakota, Oregon, and Montana.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Margaret served as a culinary artist at the motherhouse, Sinsinawa, 1959-1960, and taught at Sacred Heart, Reedsburg, 1962-1967, and St. Dennis, Madison, 1968-1970. She served as support staff at the motherhouse, Sinsinawa, 1996-2002.
Sister Margaret was born May 24, 1924, in Faribault, Minn., the daughter of Michael and Barbara (Gores) Muellenmeister. Her parents; three sisters, Helen Osypowski, Florence Kressin, and Mary Giefer; and two brothers, Paul Muellenmeister and Donald Muellenmeister, preceded her in death. She is survived by nieces, nephews, and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared 71 years of religious life.
