MADISON — You’re invited to join hundreds of fellow Catholics at this year’s Spring Wine Fest on Saturday, May 5, hosted by St. Paul’s University Catholic Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Thanks to the support of many guests and sponsors, including 2012 Platinum Sponsors Backflip Films and Phillips Wine Company, the Spring Wine Fest has grown to be a highly anticipated and memorable evening with friends, new and old.
Wine and beer tasting
The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a wine and beer tasting featuring nine red and white wines from a variety of international regions and five local Wisconsin microbrewed beers, served by some of the joy-filled university students who call St. Paul’s a home away from home.
Dinner stations offer delicious options for guests who can relax at a table or continue to move throughout the room, talking with fellow guests and sampling the variety of wines, beer, and foods.

Guest of honor
This year, St. Paul’s is excited to welcome Sr. Joseph Andrew Bogdanowicz, OP, of the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist as a featured guest of honor. Sister Joseph Andrew is one of the four founders of her community, which began in 1997 and has grown to over 100 Sisters from 34 states and Canada.
As the community’s vocations director, Sister Joseph Andrew travels throughout the United States and the world, giving talks and meeting with young people and university students who are in the midst of their own vocational discernment as they embark on careers, family life, religious life, and priesthood.
In recent years, this young order has attracted the notice of many for its rapid growth and youthfulness. The average age of the Sisters is 28 years old and the average age of women who enter for initial discernment is only 21 years old.
In 2010, Oprah Winfrey twice invited the order to appear on her television show. The order agreed to allow cameras to film their community as a witness to the Catholic faith and to the vocation to religious life.
Sister Joseph Andrew is an engaging, humorous speaker and will be an inspirational addition to this year’s event. She will share her unique perspective that speaks to Blessed Pope John Paul II’s remark that “the future of society and of the Church herself is closely bound up with the development of young people engaged in higher studies.”
Immersed with students
Prior to the Spring Wine Fest, Sister Joseph Andrew will be immersed in a variety of programs at St. Paul’s. She will speak to the Alpha Omega large group event for undergraduate students, have dinner with the St. Paul’s students who formed a Women’s Discernment Group, provide spiritual direction to students, and participate in other programs.
We hope you’ll join students, staff, and many supporters of this important mission at this year’s Spring Wine Fest on Saturday, May 5.
