SINSINAWA — Sr. Therese O’Donnell, OP, died January 14, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, Iowa. Her religious name was Sister Eamon. The funeral Mass was held at the Dominican Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, January 20, 2017, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Therese made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican February 3, 1947, and her final profession August 5, 1950. She taught for 15 years and served as principal for 37 years and consultant for the Sisters of the Northeast Province of the Sinsinawa Dominican Congregation for two years. Sister Therese served in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Therese ministered as principal at Blessed Sacrament, Madison, 1969-1974, and as consultant for the Sinsinawa Dominican Congregation’s Northeast Province, 1974-1976.
Sister Therese was born June 28, 1926, in Chicago, the daughter of John and Theresa (Bamberger) O’Donnell. She is survived by nieces, nephews, and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 69 years.
