SINSINAWA, Wis. — Sister Margaret “Peggy” Glynn, OP, died Dec. 31, 2020, at the Dominican motherhouse, Sinsinawa. Her religious name was Sister Mary Leon. The funeral Mass was held at the Dominican motherhouse, Jan. 8, 2021, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Peggy made her first profession as a Dominican Sister of Sinsinawa Aug. 5, 1954, and her perpetual profession Aug. 5, 1958. She taught for 30 years and served as principal for three years. Sister Peggy ministered as director of religious education for nine years, as pastoral administrator for 12 years. She was kind and shared her adventurous spirit through her life and ministries. Sister Peggy carried common-sense wisdom and was not afraid to ponder. She served in Illinois, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Wyoming, Alaska and Oregon.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Peggy taught at Sacred Heart, Reedsburg, 1968-1969, and spent the summer months assisting at the motherhouse, 1969.
Sister Peggy was born May 1, 1933, in Waseca, Minn., the daughter of Joseph and Ann (Gallagher) Glynn. Her parents; a sister, Joan Fleshman; and four brothers, John Glynn, Robert Glynn, Ronald Glynn, and Gilbert Glynn, preceded her in death. She is survived by three sisters, Elizabeth Kanz, Sister Mary Liana Glynn, OP, and Sharon Oberman; a brother, Martin Glynn; nieces; nephews; and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared 66 years of religious life.
