SINSINAWA — Sr. Mary Kenneth Kreuser, OP, died April 15, 2015, at St. Dominic Villa. The funeral Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa April 20, 2015, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Mary Kenneth made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican August 5, 1944, and her final profession August 5, 1947. She taught elementary and junior high for 28 years; served as principal for four years; and taught art at all levels, kindergarten through college, for 11 years. Sister Mary Kenneth was also an artist. She served in Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, New York, and Texas.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Mary Kenneth taught at Edgewood High, Madison, 1975-1979; Edgewood College, 1982-1984; and Edgewood Campus, 1984-1985. She served at the motherhouse, Sinsinawa, as director of housekeeping, 1986-1989; coordinator of special activities, 1989-1992; and volunteer, 2004-2013. Sister Mary Kenneth ministered as artist-in-residence at Veritas Studio at Edgewood College, Madison, 1993-2002, and taught at St. Dennis, Madison, 2002-2004.
Sister Mary Kenneth was born July 15, 1922, in Kenosha, Wis., the daughter of William and Mithilda (Tekip) Kreuser. Her parents; one sister, Patricia May; and six brothers, Walter Kreuser, Robert Kreuser, William Kreuser, Clarence Kreuser, Kenneth Kreuser, and Daniel Kreuser, preceded her in death. She is survived by a brother, Richard Kreuser, and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 70 years.
