SINSINAWA — Sr. Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Premo, OP, died April 30, 2017, at St. Dominic Villa. Her religious name was Sr. Marie Camille. The funeral Mass was held at the Dominican motherhouse, Sinsinawa, May 3, 2017, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Liz made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 5, 1961, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1966. She taught for 18 years and served as secretary for one year, director of an adult education center for six years, director of religious education for six years, consultant for one year, and volunteer.
Sister Liz served in Nebraska, Alabama, the District of Columbia, South Carolina, Illinois, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Liz volunteered in the Communication Office at the motherhouse, Sinsinawa, 1996-2007.
Sister Liz was born Feb. 19, 1923, in Janesville, Wis., the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Gagan) Premo. Her parents; an infant brother; and a sister, Frances Premo, preceded her in death. She is survived by a sister, Catherine Premo, and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 55 years.
