SINSINAWA — Sr. Margaret Mary “Meg” Majewski, OP, died Sept. 29, 2021, at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wis. Her religious name was Sister Mary Loyola. The funeral Mass was held at the Dominican motherhouse, Sinsinawa, Oct. 15, followed by burial of the cremains in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Meg made her first profession as a Dominican Sister of Sinsinawa Aug. 5, 1950, and her perpetual profession Aug. 5, 1953. She taught elementary, secondary, and upper education for 42 years, eventually specializing in art. Sister Meg served in campus ministry for 14 years and family care for one year. She was deeply involved in the communities in which she ministered, always present with a smile. She was an accomplished artist who excelled at copper tooling. Sister Meg served in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa, Indiana, Alabama, Tennessee and Michigan, as well as Trinidad.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Meg taught at Edgewood Campus School, Madison, 1968-1972. From 1978 to 1980, she taught art at Edgewood College and Madison Area Technical College (now Madison College), both Madison.
Sister Meg was born Aug. 5, 1930, in Chicago, the daughter of Walter and Marie (Kulawas) Majewski. Her parents; two sisters, Adelaide Kennedy and ZeAnn Majewski; three brothers, Myron Colbeck, Gene Majewski, and Thomas Majewski (her twin), preceded her in death. She is survived by nieces, nephews and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared 71 years of religious life.
