SINSINAWA — Sr. Loretto Wolff, OP, died Oct. 3, 2017, at St. Dominic Villa. The funeral Mass was held at the Dominican motherhouse, Sinsinawa, Oct. 6, 2017, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Loretto made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 5, 1945, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1948. She taught for 32 years, nine while also serving as principal, and served as a pastoral minister for six years, parish administrator for nine years, librarian for four years, and as a volunteer for 12 years.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Loretto taught at St. Raphael, Madison, 1953-1958, and Edgewood Campus School, Madison, where she also served as principal, 1968-1977.
Sister Loretto was born July 2, 1923, in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of Joseph and Lorretto (Walsh) Wolff Sr. Her parents; two sisters, Margaret Schonebaum and Elaine Filkins; and three brothers, Joseph Wolff Jr., Vincent Wolff, and Robert Wolff, preceded her in death. She is survived by a sister, Sr. Mary Wolff, OP; and three brothers, John “Jack” Wolff, Abbot Theodore “Ted” Wolff, OSB, and F. Patrick Wolff; nieces; nephews; and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared 72 years of religious life.
