SINSINAWA — Sister LaDonna Jeno, OP, died Jan. 28, 2022, at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wis. Her religious name was Sister Albertino. The funeral Mass was held at the Dominican motherhouse, Sinsinawa, Feb. 3, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister LaDonna made her first profession as a Dominican Sister of Sinsinawa Aug. 5, 1952, and her perpetual profession Aug. 5, 1955. She taught for six years and served as cook for six years, support staff for 35 years, and educational aide for four years. Sister LaDonna was outgoing, kind and generous. She welcomed many babies with hand-knitted outfits and blankets and was a helper wherever she lived. She served in Illinois, Wisconsin, the District of Columbia, Minnesota and Alabama.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister LaDonna served at the motherhouse, Sinsinawa, as cook, 1954-1956; with special programs, 1964-1979; and in the Office of Development with the Honors and Memorials program, 1992-2006.
Sister LaDonna was born May 7, 1931, in Faribault, Minn., the daughter of Albert and Lillian (LeMieux) Jeno. Her parents; a sister, Phyllis Riggle; and a brother, Wilfred Jeno, preceded her in death. She is survived by nieces and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared 69 years of religious life.
