CROSS PLAINS — Sr. John Rose Acker, OSF, pastoral minister at St. Francis Xavier Parish in Cross Plains, died Saturday, July 6, 2013.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 10, at 11 a.m., at St. Francis Xavier Church in Cross Plains, with Fr. Tom Kelley, pastor, presiding. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
A vigil will be held on Tuesday, July 9, from 2 to 8 p.m. in the church.
Sister John Rose was born December 2, 1933, to John and Rose (Wagner) Acker.
On June 13, 2013, she celebrated 62 years as a Sister of the School Sisters of St. Francis. She taught in elementary schools in Illinois and Wisconsin for 32 years and served as pastoral minister at St. Francis Xavier Parish in Cross Plains for the past 23 years.
Survivors include her sisters Margaret Lamberty, Milly Kelter, Sister Haroldine, and Elmerine Acker, and her brothers Harry and Leonard.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
Sister John Rose requested no flowers, but for those wishing to honor her, contributions can be made for Masses, to the Retirement Fund for the School Sisters of St. Francis, and to the Stain Glass Window Fund at St. Francis Xavier Parish, Cross Plains.
