SINSINAWA, Wis. — Sr. Elaine Robbins, OP, died April 5, 2019, at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wis. Her religious name was Sister Genevieve. Natural burial took place April 8, 2019, in the Motherhouse Cemetery. The funeral Mass was held at the motherhouse, Sinsinawa April 13, 2019.
Sister Elaine made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican August 5, 1956, and her perpetual profession August 5, 1959. She taught for 20 years and served as principal for three years and tutor for 12 years. Sister Elaine ministered as secretary for two years and director of religious education for 10 years. She served in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Illinois, Alabama, Missouri, Maryland, and Florida.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Elaine served as secretary at Edgewood College, Madison, 1956-1958. She volunteered at the motherhouse, Sinsinawa, 2007-2014.
Sister Elaine was born July 23, 1932, in West Allis, Wis., the daughter of Joseph and Viola (Miller) Robbins. She grew up in Stevens Point, Wis. Her parents; a sister, Dorothy Levandowski; and a brother, Gerald Robbins, preceded her in death. She is survived by cousins and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 62 years.
