SINSINAWA — Sr. Dolores Grasse, OP, died August 2, 2019, at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wis. Her religious name was Sister Theodosius. The funeral Mass was held at the Dominican Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, August 10, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Dolores made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican August 5, 1957, and her perpetual profession August 5, 1960. She served as school librarian and taught for 13 years before serving in several capacities at Edgewood College, Madison, Wis., for 28 years, including assistant registrar, registrar, director of data processing, and manager of administrative computing. Sister Dolores used her administrative assistant skills for the next 15 years. She served in Nebraska, Wisconsin, Alabama, Wyoming, Oklahoma, and Iowa.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Dolores taught at St. Clara Academy, Sinsinawa, 1968-1969, and ministered at Edgewood College, Madison, as assistant registrar, 1970-1974; registrar, 1974-1985; director of data processing, 1985-1990; and manager of administrative computing, 1990-1998. She served at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, as secretary of the congregation, 1998-2001, and as secretary, 2001-2013, assisting the congregation, Archives, and the Liturgy Office.
Sister Dolores was born June 24, 1933, in Sheboygan, Wis., the daughter of Theodore and Lucile (Pangier) Grasse. Her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by a sister, Jean Dickman; two brothers, Dennis Grasse and Theodore Grasse; nieces; nephews; and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared 61 years of Religious life.
