SINSINAWA — Sr. Anne Marie Friedrich, OP, died Jan. 6, 2022, at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wis. Her religious name was Sister Innocentia. The funeral Mass was held at the Dominican motherhouse, Sinsinawa, Jan. 11, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Anne Marie made her first profession as a Dominican Sister of Sinsinawa Aug. 5, 1952, and her perpetual profession Aug. 5, 1955. She taught for 20 years and was principal for 10 years. Her next ministry was in health care, where she served as business manager for 16 years and fiscal assistant for nine years. Sister Anne Marie had a beautiful way of being present to whoever she was with. Her ability to manage complex medical records and still maintain a listening heart with joy and a smile were a gift wherever she served God’s people. She was an organized, warm, kind, and funny human being. She served in Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin and Mississippi.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Anne Marie was principal and taught at St. Raphael, Madison, 1967-1969.
Sr. Anne Marie was born Sept. 1, 1932, in Chicago, the daughter of Adam and Catherine (Connor) Friedrich. Her parents and a sister, Leona Friedrich, preceded her in death. She is survived by a sister, Joan Bulfin; nieces; nephews; and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared 69 years of religious life.
